4 Things You Should Never Buy for More than $.50
Some will say there’s nothing you should ever buy at full price, but I wanted to post on four items you should never spend more than $.50 on (and in some cases you may even be able to get for free!).
1) Toothpaste: Geesh, I already feel like I’ve dedicated so many entries to toothpaste, including a post on 10 Ways to Use Your Stockpile of Toothpaste. There are just so many coupons and so many sales on toothpaste that you should never ever pay more than about $.50 for a full tube of toothpaste.
This past week CVS had Colgate Total on sale at buy-one-get-one-free. They also had Crest on sale for $1.77 and last month Aquafresh was on sale for $2.99 and you got back $2.99 ECBs. See what I mean. There’s no reason to pay (much) for toothpaste. Here’s a $1.50/1 Colgate Total printable coupon and the June 27 issue of All You magazine also has a $1.50/1 coupon inside.
You can get free toothpaste samples frequently as well. Click here to get free samples of Aquafresh and Arm & Hammer toothpaste.
2) Shave Gel: I have at least 17 cans of shave gel in my linen closet and I don’t think I paid more than $.50 for each one. In May, CVS had Skintimate and Edge shave gel on sale for $1.78. Target and Wal-Mart also had Satin Care shave gel on sale for $1.79.
Already these are cheap prices but you can easily find $1/1 print coupons for Satin Care and Skintimate. I usually stock up on these from The Coupon Master. You can also get a $1/1 printable coupon for Edge shave gel here.
In June you can also find a Walgreens $1/1 in-store coupon for Satin Care and you can pair this with the $1/1 manufacturers coupon. Satin Care for dry skin and Satin Care with silk are on sale at 2/$3 right now so with coupons the shave gel is free!
3) Baby Soap: I already have at least four bars of Johnson’s Buddies soap that I got free using this $1/1 coupon. This soap is less than $1 nearly everywhere. You can also use this $2/2 Johnson’s coupon to get free soap too.
Huggies baby wash is another baby soap that you can get nearly free. Right now it’s $3.49 at CVS and you get $2 ECBs in return. Plus use a $1/1 print coupon that you can buy from The Coupon Master (I just bought 4). So that’s $.49 per bottle. Last month I actually got the baby wash for $.44 per bottle since Target had sent me some print coupons and I was able to pair these with the $1/1 manufacturers coupons.
4) Cereal: Last week I bought two boxes of Oatmeal Crisp cereal for $1 at Harris Teeter. Last month I bought two boxes of Smart Start cereal for $1.
Tomorrow I’ll be buying 6 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios for $20 before coupons. But then I’ll use this $1/1 Honey Nut Cheerios printable coupon for each box and a $4/$20 register tape coupon. That’s $10. Then I’ll get back $10 ECBs making the cereals free.
Sound off! What else do you think you should never buy for more than $.50?
