Guest Post: Easy Way To Give
We have struggled lately with the encounters we have had with homeless and needy people. They seem to be happening more and more and we want to do all we can to help. While we would love to be able to take them all into the grocery store and buy them a week’s worth of groceries, that would be very expensive and not very practical with two little ones. We thought about buying gift cards to local grocery stores or restaurants but that too could get very expensive.
.
Enter my genius idea:) I am being sarcastic about the genius idea of course but I was laying in bed one night trying to go to sleep when I had to wake my husband up to tell him my idea. It was all I could do to stay in bed and not start right then. Here is what we decided. We took some of our plastic grocery bags and then went through our pantry. We took out anything that was non perishable and or ready to eat and I pulled out my bag that I keep in the pantry for things to donate. We sat down on the floor and separated it all out as fairly as we could and then tied up the bags. It was so fun to do it will our little girl who fully understood what we were doing. She was walking around the house trying to find everything she could to give away. We actually had to explain to her that we did have to keep a few things:) It felt good to share such a valuable lesson with her.
This was a super easy and frugal way to be able to meet the needs of others in our community. Most of the things we put in the bags were totally free or super cheap but they will have much more value to the person that receives them. There are so many options of things to included but here is what we included in ours this time:
- box of cereal or crackers
- cans of soup or ravioli with pop top lids
- granola bars
- bags of candy
- pouches of instant oatmeal
- single packs of pop tarts
- packets of on the go drink mix
- toothbrush
- travel deodorants
- bar soap or small bodywash
- we had one t-shirt that we had gotten that we did not need so we threw that in one
- we also included small pamphlets to tell them about our Lord and Savior and hopefully meet their spiritual needs as well.

"Create Your Day" To Donate $1 To Help Fight Hunger
Head over to QuakerOats/createyourday and fill in the blanks to make a story about your day. For every story created, Quaker Oats will donate $1 to Share Our Strength (up to 25,000), a nonprofit working to end childhood hunger in the U.S. After you’ve completed your story, you’ll be able to share it with friends (or just e-mail it to yourself) and then print a $1 off coupon for any Quaker oatmeal product. It was a little bit tricky getting my coupons, but I was able to print two.

One of my daily "must read" blogs is Daisy the Curly Cat. Daisy suggested a wonderful gift for the animal lover in your home. It's an "I'm Tired Of . . . "Bracelet. The bracelets are sold for $10 each here and half of the proceeds goes to an organization to help animals.
The I'm Tired Of Homeless Animals Bracelet raises money for the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation. This organization advocates for spay and neuter clinics and support non profit shelters.
The I'm Tired of Puppy Mills bracelet raises money for the Last Chance for Animals (LCA) organization put an end to puppy mills.
With the purchase of a I'm Tired of Hungry Animals bracelet, 10 bowls of food is donated to shelters.
Proceeds from the I'm Tired of Animal Cruelty bracelet goes to the Best Friends Animal Society.

There are even I'm Tired of . . . key chains and pet tags!!
These are a great Christmas gift for the animal lover in your life that has everything.
The I'm Tired Of. . . site has a special right now for all Daisy readers. For every 3 "I'm Tired of . . . " bracelets that you buy, you will recieve a free bracelet. Let's Say Thanks
I just read about this great promotion that Xerox has to send postcards to our troops overseas and wanted to share it with you..
It is especially important this time of your with all the holidays when our men and women are deployed overseas to let them know how much thier sacrifice means to us.
.
To show the country’s appreciation to the hundreds of thousands of troops stationed overseas,
Xerox Corporation has developed a nationwide program aimed at saying “thank you” to our
troops.
.
Through the Let’s Say Thanks program, postcards designed by children from across the
country are available at http://letssaythanks.com/Home1024.html for people to select their favorite and write a personalized message to troops. Xerox prints the cards on its paper and equipment, and mails them in care packages to deployed troops through military support organization Give2TheTroops®.
.
What an awesome promotion. Let's see if we can't fill up hundreds of mail bags to let our troops know that we are thinking of them.

Forgive Me!!
I posted about a HOT Ragu printable on Monday and how I had printed 14. In my excitement over the fact that I was able to get more than 2, I simply did not think about the fact that it would cause others to miss out on a great coupon.*
I would like to apologize for letting my excitement get the better of me and cloud my judgement. I did not even intend to use all of them, I was simply trying to see how many would print.
*
My blog is about sharing deals and helping others save time and money. By printing in excess, I have prevented others from taking advantage of a great deal.
*
I would love for those that missed out to contact me at clippergirl56 @ gmail.com to let me know that you missed out and how many you would like.

Kellogg Company Donating Entire Day's Production

Food banks across the country have seen a 30 percent increase in demand, as one in eight Americans struggles with hunger.
In response to this significant need, Kellogg Company is donating an entire day’s cereal production to Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. The donation will total 3.5 million pounds of cereal worth approximately $10 million. This amounts to more than 55 million cereal servings, which is more than enough to provide a cereal breakfast for every American struggling with hunger.
