I recieved an email from Brandie at Free Sample Freak. May is Melanoma / Skin Cancer Detection & Prevention Month®.
More than one million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year. This May, the American Academy of Dermatology is recognizing Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month® by encouraging people to screen themselves and their loved ones for skin cancer. Performing regular skin self-examinations is an easy way to detect suspicious moles that could be cancerous, and research shows involving a partner in the process can improve the early detection of skin cancer.
This is such an important topic that I wanted to share her post with you:
"The American Academy of Dermatology is offering free Skin Cancer screenings at 285 locations across America! Some of these locations doing the free screenings are available during the whole month of may, others are limited to specific dates or times. Check the list here to see if there is a screening near you. Also, on their homepage you can watch a video of what to expect during a Skin Cancer Screening.
Check these sites to to find even more locations for free Skin Cancer Screenings:
-Skin Cancer Takes Friends
-Road to Healthy Skin Tour (the tour schedule is undergoing maintenance at this time, check back in a little while) "
Also, check out American Academy of Dermatology site on how to perform a skin self-exam.
Be sure to stop by and say thank you to her and check out her other posts on freebies and samples.
