Thumbs Up Thursday!!

Have you ever read a book so often that you and a child know it by heart?
Reading and memorizing are an excellent way to instill positive values in your children.

Several weeks ago, I received an email from Michelle Bain, the author of Thumbs Up Johnnie books, letting me know that her 5 book boxset was on sale for the summer. I began researching the books and fell in love with them. They are very postive and are centered on responsibility, teamwork and friendship. Michelle has created characters that will have an impact on children and will build character. I contacted her and told her how impressed I was with the books and she offered to send me a set to read and review.
*
I have been reading them to the 5 year old that I watch in the evenings. She, too, has fallen in love with them. She has two favorites, Thumbs Up Johnnie Finds A Buddy and Jimmy Jam Germ and the Happy Handshake. . . . she loves to say Jimmy Jam Germ. We have read the books so much that she is now able to finish sentences for me.

After contacting Michelle to let her know how much we have enjoyed the books, she has offered to give not ONE but THREE ClipperGirl's Saving Spot readers "The Adventures of Thumbs Up Johnnie™" – 5 book boxed set AND a Thumbs Up Johnnie™ Reading Cuddle Buddy. Wow! how awesome is that.
*
Now to enter for your chance to win one of three of these awesome giveaways, go to the Thumbs Up Johnnie merchandise page and look over the books. Leave me a comment of which book is your favorite and what positive aspect is included in the book.
*
For addtional entries: (leave a separate comment for each action that you take and include an email address)

I had a friend comment on these the other day. I hadn't heard of them before that.

I really am excited to read Johnnie's Missing Boot! I really love books that are not only entertaining, but that have a deeper meaning that young children can understand. :)

Hi everyone-
This is Michelle Bain, the Author of the Thumbs Up JOhnnie books. I do have to tell you that your kind comments made my day. I am always looking to see if it is my relatives (wink wink) saying kind things about my books (they have to of course-kidding) but then I look and realize that maybe the word is getting out about our books series and I am so very grateful. Let me know if I can help support you or your little readers with some book marks or fun stuff. Truly, thank you for your support and kindness.

I like the sounds of Banker Bill's Guide to Common Cents!

The positive thing it focuses on is lessons in savings that helps young readers think about what they SHOULD do with their money instead of what they COULD do with it.

My boys all recieve allowance now (if they do their chores with no complaining, that is) and we have been working with them on how ten percent of is for their tithe, then the other 90 percent is split in half (half goes into a savings account and the other half is theirs to spend). We're trying to get them to understand the concept of saving their part they get to spend for bigger and better things. I think this book would be good for them.

Sorry, I kind of just wrote a book. LOL

I am entering this giveaway for my son's school. (after we read them) He goes to a very small school that gets no funding from state or federal. It is Emmanuel Christian School. 52 kids from prek to 12th. I think that The Adventures of Thumbs Up Johnnie™ - Johnnie's Missing Boot!
is a real good learning tool (actually they all are) this book teaches teamwork and responsibility. I think these books could become a very good learning tool for all kids.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I am interested in new books for my children and am starting to work on getting books that teach positive lessons or skills that they use throughout their lives. When looking at the books I really thought that my children would enjoy learning about signs in The Adventures of Thumbs Up Johnnie™ - Zipp, Little Digit & The Happy Signs.

Sarah said...

I looked them over and I like The Zipp, Little Digit & The Happy Signs book as well as the others. I chose this book because both my girls use sign language and my oldest daughter likes stop signs when we are driving. Always telling me when to stop. :-)
