Super Saturday Savings: Kroger 10 Item Mega Sale

Here is my first attempt at saving money at Kroger in quite some time. I generally avoid Kroger because it has become so difficult for couponers to save money, but I could not resist the free tuna, Snuggle and Frank's Red Hot Sauce included in the 10 Item Mega Sale.

Obviously, my talent is not photography 'cause the picture is a little blurry, but hopefully you can see what I got.

I ran across the Quaker Fright Night Mini Granola Bars in the area near the registers where the Halloween stuff was being marked down. Most items were half off, but the bags of granola bars were regularly $2.50 and marked down to $1. I thought this was a great idea for the kids in the neighborhood because they are halfway?? healthy. Granola with chocolate chips and candy pieces!! Well, DH did not think there was enough sugar in them to rot out the teeth of the our trick or treaters . . . so he is off buying candy!

Anyway, back to the deals. I had to do three trips because our Kroger limits us to 4 identical coupons and only one of those will double.

By the way, I checked shelf dates on the items that I purchased that are a part of the 10 Item Mega Sale and the sale runs through November 7. Now, that I have had a successful day at Kroger, I will try it again next week.

Target Goes Green!

I posted here about CVS going green by offering the bag tag to customers. Well, Target has also jumped on the green band wagon.

Starting November 1, Target will offer thier customers .05 for every reusable bag that is used while shopping. It's thier way of reducing the number of plastic bags that are thrown away.

Best Buy has dropped the price of the Insignia NS-BRDVD3 , a budget priced Blu-ray player, to just $99. The BRDVD3 streams about 17,000 movies and TV shows from Netflix (provided you're a subscriber).

According to this article at Yahoo! Tech prices of budget Blu-Ray players will probably drop as low as $49 for Black Friday. According to the article, the reduction of price of budget players could also result in reduction of price of name branded players.

Halloween Flashlight Recall

Halloween flashlights are being recalled because they can overheat and melt.

These flashlights were sold at Target stores during August and September of this year.
.
This recall involves two types of Halloween-themed flashlights:

Mini Flashlights - The mini flashlights have a key ring extending from the bottom and were sold in a pack of three colors: orange, green and black. The orange and purple packaging has "Mini Flashlights (3 Pack)" printed on the front and "DGI", "Made in China" and "DPCI# 234-02-1813" printed on the back.

.
Standard Size Flashlights - Also included in the recall are standard sized flashlights with a black handle and an orange top. The flashlights were sold with six stencils in various colors and images: a pumpkin, ghost, spider, cat, witch and skull & cross-bones. "Flashlight with Stencil" is printed on the front and "Tien Hsing," "Made in China" and "234 02 1838" is printed on the back of the packaging.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says they have received reports of several of the flashlights melting, including one case where a person's hand was burned.

If you have one of the flashlights you should stop using it and return it to target for a full refund.
