Staples 101

Reader, grlinblack77 asked a great question about how to take advantage of deals at Staples so I decided to do a little Staples 101 for those that aren't familiar with Staples.  Staples has been having some great deals lately that will help us to save lots on our home office supplies.

::Staples Rewards::

Staples Rewards is a loyalty card program which you must sign up for.  Staples Rewards card customers receive the following rewards on every purchase.

10% back in Staples Rewards on all ink & toner purchases
10% back in Staples Rewards on all case & ream paper purchases
10% back in Staples Rewards on all Copy & print purchases.

Staples many times will often offer double or triple rewards on these items. An example is this week's double rewards. You can even get $3 back on HP laser toner recycling. They often have other special Rewards offers such as this week's 50% back on Office/Mailing Supplies.

These are not instant savings at the register.  They are basically savings on future purchases.  I like to "roll" my rewards on purchases that offer rewards to maximize my savings.  (Think Rite Aid Single Check Rebate). Read more about Staples Rewards.

::Staples Teacher Rewards Program::

Whether you are a school teach in a public or private school or a home schooling mom, there is a special rewards program for you.  Simply sign up for the Staples Teacher Rewards Program and you will receive Staples Rewards Offers; as well as, Teacher Exclusive Rewards:

10% back in Rewards on teaching and art supplies. This includes classroom decor, educational games & puzzles, teaching aids, teaching and education books, dictionaries, book covers, locker accessories, stickers, colored pencils, crayons, children's markers, arts & craft supplies, scrapbook supplies, drafting tools, poster, display and foam board, easel pads, maps, academic calendars, student organizers and teacher planners.

Under this program you will receive monthly statements when your Rewards are at least $10.  Balances less than that will roll over to the next month until the minimum is met for that calendar quarter.If the $10 minimum for the quarter as not been met then the balance expires. Read more about the Teachers Rewards Program.

::Instant Savings::

Instant Savings are just that.  These are saving that are taken off at the register. Many times they are combined with Staples Reward or Easy Rebates. Several of the deals for the week of 1/24 are a combination of instant savings and Easy Rebates.

::Easy Rebates::

Staples offers rebates on select items.  When you purchase an item that is being promoted, you will receive a regular receipt at the register; as well as, an Easy Rebate receipt.  This receipt will have a tracking number that is used when submitting your rebate.  You can submit your rebates by mail; however, I submit mine online.   It is quick and easy and I save money on postage. Each rebate can be submitted individually.  I love the fact that I can check the status of my rebates and can know "the check is in the mail". Another plus about submitting your rebate online is that sometimes there are also manufacturer's rebates (especially on software programs).  You can submit both the Staples and manufacturer's and save even more money.

Although the Rebates are listed in the circular each week, you can also look for rebate offers in the Easy Rebate Section. I completed a search on Staples brand and found numerous rebates offered for the month of January. You have 60 days from the date of purchase to submit your rebate.

Several of the deals that I posted about here for this coming week are Easy Rebate offers.

I hope that this "tutorial"  has answered some of your questions.  If not, be sure to email me at clippergirl56@gmail.com.
