National Wear Red Day
Show Your Red
On Friday February 5th 2010 join women across the nation in your brightest, boldest red outfit. National Wear Red Day® is a day for everyone to show their support for women's heart disease awareness.
The tools that help you maintain a healthy weight - eating smart and moving more - are the same ones that help you fight heart disease. Use these tips to be a healthier, happier you - not only on National Wear Red Day®, but year-round:
Move more - the more you move the healthier your heart will be. A strong, healthy heart is the key to preventing heart disease. To get heart-health benefits from physical activity you will need to get at least 250 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week.
Eat Smart - enjoy more fruits, vegetables and whole grains to give your body the nutrients it needs to fight heart disease. Stick to heart healthy fats such as olive oil and omega-3's found in fish such as salmon rather than saturated fats like butter.
Manage stress - lower stress to keep your blood pressure in check.
