Amazon is to release free Kindle software for PC. An application called "Kindle for PC is scheduled to be released for a November release. This is an attempt to get more people to buy the electronic books that are compatible with the Kindle.

You will be able to buy, download and read Kindle books on a Window-based PC even if you do not own a Kindle.

Amazon will even keep track of where you were in the book so that you can stop reading on the PC and pick up a the same place on your Kindle.
