Harris Teeter Shopping Issue-BOGO Deals

I had an incident happen while shopping at Harris Teeter over the weekend that I wanted to share.  I, also, wanted to see if anyone has had the same problem.

I know that you can no longer use two coupons on a BOGO deal so I usually purchase BOGO items in separate transactions so that I can use coupons.  This weekend I was purchasing the Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers and Yoplait Fiber One Yogurt multipacks.  I had a coupon for each item.  The cashier told me that in order to use a coupon, I had to purchase two of each.  I was totally caught off guard and asked the cashier when did the policy change.  She told me that it has always been that way.  One of the managers came over to assist with the situation.  She told me that the cashier is correct.  In order to use a coupon on a BOGO deal, you have to purchase both.  Now, that totally seems unfair to me.  I let them know that this seems totally unfair and that I would be contacting corporate to get thier official word.

HT corporate can be VERY slow responding to complaints so I wanted to check with you all.  Let me know if you have had the same issue.

If I find that HT corporate agrees with this policy, then my match ups will change to agree with the policy.

I used 2 coupons on a BOGO last Thursday with out a problem. I even asked the person who was checking me out and she said I could. This is interesting.

Barbara,
I am sorry you had a problem with them. It is a shame how some cashier's differ from others. Let us know how it turns out.

Whenever I shop at HT the cashier always says as long as I have one coupon per item, its fine. The one coupon per two items (BOGO) just doesn't make sense, since they only charge you half the price for just one BOGO item anyway. I hope your HT changes that, and I'm interested to see if corporate policy lines up!

I've never had a problem using a $x/1 coupon on one BOGO item, or a $x/2 coupon on two BOGO items.

Their coupon policy states:
"We accept only one coupon for Buy One Get One Free items."

Hope this helps.

I once had someone tell me I was getting 1/2 an item, so I just had them take the item off. This only happened once though. I have found a great cashier who will just scan what I give them and gives me no problems, so I'd just suggest finding your own good coupon to use for those bogo sales.

Harris Teeter here in Greenville is very hard to get along with. The one by ECU..there are several cashiers that are strict about coupons. The newer one is OK...I think they've had so many people scamming with coupons, that they have to be that way. It's frustrating...Target got really strict too in the last couple of months. :(

I had this problem also. I was very upset but didn't have time to argue. I jsut said I don't want it. I travel out of town to shop at Harris so I try to get all of my coupons and list perfect and when something like this happens it messes me up and upsets me for the rest of the day!
